Day 2
Tbilisi – Uplistsikhe – Mtskheta -Tbilisi
After the breakfast we will drive to the town of Gori (96 kilometers. From Tbilisi). The city today is mainly known as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. We will visit the cave town Uplistsikhe, located on the left bank of the Mtkvari river, about ten kilometers from the town of Gori, and dates back to 1000 BC Prior to the spread of Christianity in Georgia. Until the IV century, Uplistsikhe was a pagan centre of the Kingdom.
From Upliscikhe we will drive back to the town of Mtskheta. Lunch in Mtskheta (Georgian cuisine – khinkali, kababi and other dishes). Sightseeing tour of Mtskheta. Mtskheta was the capital of the eastern kingdom of Georgia – Iberia, from the third century BC to the 5th century AD. Return to Tbilisi. Free time. Dinner at a restaurant with live folk music. Overnight at the hotel.
