Day 3
Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Uplistsikhe – Borjomi
After breakfast we will drive towards Mtskheta the ancient capital of Georgia, which was the capital of the eastern kingdom of Georgia – Iberia from the third century BC till the 5th century AD. Then we will visit the cave town Uplistsikhe. Uplistsikhe is Located on the left bank of the Mtkvari river, about ten kilometers from the village of Gori, and dates back to 1000 BC Prior to the spread of Christianity in Georgia.
Until the IV century, Uplistsikhe was a pagan centre of the Kingdom. In the IX century, Christian basilica-brick church was built directly on the site of a former pagan temple of the Sun. Lunch en route. After visiting the cave town, we will arrive to Borjomi. Dinner & accommodation in a hotel in Borjomi.
