Day 7
Tbilisi – Telavi – Alaverdi – Tsinandali – Gurjaani
After the breakfast and check-out from the hotel, departure towards Kakheti region. Our group will pay a visit to one of Georgia’s most famous temples of the Middle Ages, Alaverdi Cathedral, 20 km from Telavi. The cathedral was built at the beginning of the 11th century and was one of the tallest buildings of its time. From Alaverdi Cathedral group will head towards Telavi. Telavi along with Tbilisi, Mtskheta and Kutaisi, is one of the oldest cities of Georgia which judging from the historical documents. After a light lunch, visit to Tsinandali estate of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze.
The group will head towards the town of Gurjaani & pay a visit to a local family at “Wine House Gurjaani (Www.winehousegurjaani.ge). Here you will be greeted by a hospitable host, who will introduce you to the ancient tradition of winemaking and culinary arts. The specialist will tell and show you how the ancestors used to make wine using the old methods, still used widely in this country. You will attend and take part in the confection of Georgian national delicacy called “churchkhela.”
Then all the guests will be invited to the old dining hall, furnished in a typical Georgian style, where a typical Georgian feast, a banquet, led by the toastmaster & accompanied by a live preference of Georgian folk songs, awaits you by a warm and cosy fireplace. After the banquet, overnight at hotel in Gurjaani.
